Ed Samuelson walks his dog, Lola, and chats with employees Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, outside Harpo Studios in Chicago where ''The Oprah Winfrey Show'' is taped. Winfrey announced Friday she was taking her show off the air following next season _ her 25th. To get a sense of what Winfrey has meant to Chicago, all anybody needs to do is step outside her studios on the city's near West Side that has been the show's home for nearly 20 years. Upscale condominiums and pricey restaurants have replaced the rundown apartments, abandoned warehouses and vacant storefronts that were once the neighborhood. Winfrey's decision is a blow to the ''Second City'' where she has remained the city's ambassador and kept the spotlight shining on it.
